Posted - 11 June 2008 : 15:17:09 Am not sure why I want to know the answer to this, but if something was to happen to me in the next 3 yrs, ie die, what would happen to my BR? I will have an payment plan set up - would my next of kin be help responsible for it?
Just an update the OR investigations are on going, am currently collating info for when I privatly rented back in 2005! They have told me I will be paying back £264 a month for the next 3 yrs which is more than managable.
If I wanted to save some money, ie for car tax, brakdowns, holidays, xmas etc - am I allowed to put the money in a saving account or am I better of hiding it under the bed so the OR doesnt know it exists? God I sound really devious there...
Thanks

Posted - 12 June 2008 : 08:14:22 Hi
I was going for an IVA orginally so I had to close my current acc with HSBC & I opened an account with the co-op at this time I didnt think I was going the whole BR way so I just opened a normal account with chq book & visa debit card. The OR are aware of this & the co-op know I am BR & both (for now) are happy for me to keep this account open.. so we'll see how it goes.
So yes I have written my chq for £1 to ING to get the account sorted out.. Even if the OR dont let me keep the acc with ING, I want the £30 from it!
Yep another day staying safe vicki!!

Posted - 11 June 2008 : 23:11:46 just a quick question Tikka did you have to change your current account when you went BR and if so do you have cheque book with your new current account? The way the ING account works is if you give them new bank details you have to send a cheque to confirm it.

Posted - 11 June 2008 : 16:05:45 Absolutely makes sense - get it stashed away! Will wait to hear what happens should we die during BR. God that does sound morbid! Avoiding buses in the meantime!

Posted - 11 June 2008 : 15:55:45 Thanks to you both..
Yes it is strange, was just wondering as my next of kin would be my parents and they dont know Ive gone BR..
As for the car tax etc, all those things I did put on my SOA but I need somewhere to put the cash ie £10 a month towards tax so that I dont spend it - as I know I will if I just left it in my bank account, it has to be out of sight..
I have a savings account already with ING although am not sure how I stand on this as in my intial paperwork I didnt mention it purely cause I forgot about it & it was only this week when I checked I found I had £30 in it, so was thinking if the OR are ok with it, I would keep the account & set up a SO to ING for a set amount for all these things I need at some point during the yr - does that make sense? |

Posted - 11 June 2008 : 15:48:19 Well spotted kboy33! See - you're becoming addicted too!
Yes I listed car mot/tax/maintenance as an essential expense - not sure if breakdown cover can be included - that might need to be paid for out of disposable income. If you go back to home page and look at forum headed Income Payment Agreements - its a long document but lists what can and can't be listed.

Posted - 11 June 2008 : 15:30:15 Not that i know anything about this but isnt money for car tax and repairs meant to be part of ur monthly expenditure, rather than having to save extra for it? |

Posted - 11 June 2008 : 15:26:25 Strange what pops into your head when you have gone BR! I would be interested in the answer to your first question too! Not that I am planning on popping off just yet!
Goodness knows what they want rental info from 2005 for?
Good news that the payments will be manageable Tikka - it a huge weight off your mind when you can start to plan a future.
I think you must be able to save money somewhere - I have had a holiday allowance accepted so am hoping to save it although I don't suppose us BR's will get a saving account!! Having said that there are Post Office savings accounts that don't require credit checks and pay a small amount of interest - every little helps!
