If I go bankrupt will it affect my husband in a big way? We are in rented accomodation.
Most debts are in my name as I had a well paid job before I had to go on incapacity. Now work p/t wages not good

Hi Paul,

I think you'll be fighting a losing battle to try and disassociate yourself from someone you have a joint mortgage with and are married to!

Paul - I did not think that spouses could disassociate at the CRAs?

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

You are associated with regards to the mortgage but the debt burden was not yours so my understanding is that you can apply for the disassociation.

Hi Wendy and welcome

couple of things to check out:-

1. please read your tenancy agreement to see what it says about Br. Most landlords are fine provided you haven't missed any payments.

2. It may have an effect on your husband so if it does when he next applies for credit you can apply to have your name DISSASSOCIATED from his - providing a clean break.
