how can I trace details of my mothers bankruptcy as she went bankrupt in 1993, she has not got any paperwork with any details but she is not sure if they can carry on taking assets from her, she did contact the company involved at the time but they were not nice to her, she thinks they have taken assests from her in 1997 but her bankruptcy would of been up in 1996, any information would be really helpfull so I can help her. Many thanks

Hi Sheona

The best person to speak to about this is the Trustee that dealt with her bankruptcy, as they have/had control over the assets, and will retain all the documents.

It is not unusual for assets not to be realised until after discharge from bankrutpcy as you are only discharged from your debt, your assets remain in the estate.
