Posted - 08 August 2008 : 09:50:44 i am condidering going bankrupt, i am recieving benifits and also starting a degree next month ad would need to apply for a student loan to cover tuition fees. is it still possible to get a student loan if i go bankrupt and will i continue to recieve benifits as i am supporting my daughter?

Just remember that as an undischarged BR, you have a legal obligation to inform anyone you borrow more than £500 from (including friends and family) of your status.

Student loans are not credit scored and there is no difficulty getting one when bankrupt. They are completely separate from other forms of credit.

I don't think you would be able to get a student loan while bankrupt, as not only is it a form of credit, but the student loan company would probably not think you were a good risk. To be sure I would give them a call and ask what their policy is.
