Just a little query about the gambling bit on the SOA, I have probably spent around £200 on online gambling over the last few years. Some of it was my own money and some probably was credit (can't remember to be honest). Is this worth declaring, and will I automatically get an BRU because it was gambling? Any advice much appreciated....

Hi
I would be very surprised if any unsecured lender took firm legal action via the court within those timescales. You never know, but it would be unusual.

I'm not what I would call a gambler but I have been known to have a shot at cards online, but I think I'll take your advice and say nothing unless asked.
Currently looking round houses to rent, so hopefully if I can get that sorted, i'll make myself BR by late september. Although the letters and calls are getting more threatening, and making me feel a bit uncomfortable now. I haven't made any significant payments since june as I went for the IVA and only made token payments.
Does anyone think, I can get through to september without the creditors taking court action against me? Or is there any tactics I could use to delay them?

Hi
if the gambling amounted to about £200, was over some years, not necessarily all on credit and likely done, at least in part, before you reached the point where your debts became unaffordable, then I wouldn't put it in.
If the OR refers to it at interview, which I doubt under the circumstances, just explain that due to all of the above factors, you felt it was insignificant.
How many of us place a couple of quid a week on the lottery?

this does not seem like a high level of gambling but it is best to put it on the SOA, if you put nothing the OR will notice its there and know you have been dishonest, may lead to alot more unnecessary investigating. |

given the level of gambling, I would suggest that you dont mention it.
I also think that this level of gambling would not give rise to a BRU. |
