Thought people would be interested in this -

The complete insolvency figures for 2009 were released today. (See http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/otherinformation/statistics/201002/index.htm

There were a massive 134,142 individual insolvencies (of which 74,670 were bankruptcies) in England and Wales in 2009. That works out at approximately 1 in 320 of the adult population - so you are in good company!

Hi Richard,

They left me the car (great!), I still don't know about the house and I'm currently questioning the amount they want to pay for my IPA. Hopefully they will drop the IPA a bit and then I can sign the thing and get my head down and start paying it. As to the house - who knows?

Really appreciate your offer of help,

All the best,

Average Joe

Well done Joe

How are things going now?

I recall (I have not looked back) that you had a property and a BTL - how have you got on with this in BR?

If I can assist with some cyber advice - post and I will give some thought to your situation if you are interested.

best regards, Richard

The BBC did a piece on the figures too - and I'm pleased to say that they followed it with the view from our side of the fence.

Yep GOOD, DRO's are mainly people who would in the past have gone bankrupt. if you include them with the bankruptcies "the group that has been relieved of their debts" is up 25% roughly inline with with IVA's

Thanks for posting this. It's interesting that from the beginning of 2009 the Individual Insolvencies show a sharp drop in BR, and a sharp increase in IVAs. I'm not too sure if these are offsetting each other or this is due to the DROs.
