Posted - 09 February 2010 : 17:27:10 I have moved to Australia and have a number of debts still remaining in the uk (house, credit cards). I have been covering the cost of these whilst trying to sell the house but am now struggling to continue with both the UK payments and my costs in Australia. How can I go about sorting these debts, is bankruptcy an option and what would happen if I was unable to continue covering these payments being that I reside in a different country?

Posted - 09 February 2010 : 17:32:55 If you have left the UK less than 3 years ago then you would be able to declare BR here. You would need to either fly back and present yourself at the High Court in London or transfer the Power of Attorney to someone who would represent you at court.
We would need to know more about your situation (i.e. amount of debt, disposable income each month, etc.) before being able to say that declaring Br is the right option or not.
