Hi all. Am going to court tomorrow to file for BR. Just wondered after seeing some posts on here should I empty my bank account tomorrow? Have a basic abbey account at min. Just worried I'll lose what money is left in there to pay for stuff at end of month. Thanks am so nervous doing this on my own

I didnt have to send the OR anthing other than receipts for a few houehold items which i bought just before BR , had to account for the money as it was from the sale of my car which was over £2 and would have been at risk. Other than that everything has been simple. They did not ask anything difficult on the phone and were only on phone about 20 mins or so. I got letter last week re early discharge and was only BR in 2nd week of november.

Good luck

Lyndsey

Don't worry about asking questions!

I was sent a 'pack' by the OR requesting credit card statements, bank statements and loan agreements - if you have a look at my blog I've listed what I was asked for.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

32 IPA payments made, 4 to go - the end is in sight!

Have just spoken to tesco and they said as long as I keep making payments I'll be fine. Does the official reciever ask for any other paperwork other than what was handed in at court today. Sorry for all the questions

I agree with Housing, you need to make sure that your direct debits are set up to come out of your new account.

I would also recommend checking the small print of your insurance to make sure that it's not invalidated by going BR. There was someone on here a while back who had that problem - I think the insurance company was Aviva.

Yes I opened a co op one last night. Just wasn't sure if the OR would inform my phone and insurance company and tell them

Hi

Congratulations again.

the direct debits on your basic account will continue to be paid, However, if not, I recomend that you open a Coo-op Cashminder and do them from that account

That is good to hear - please use the forum whenever you see the need - you can post at any time and the answers are here for you.

It also assists others if people are able to share their experiences.

It may help to tell your close family and friends - I did and they were all very understanding and I am glad that I did do so. There is nothing to be ashamed about, however, I understand if you want to keep the matter to yourself. Noone need know, the OR does not inform the local press these days.

I wish you well, Richard

Hi

Well done - that sounds to be a good result.

I have to say due to the current massive volume of BR cases, the OR seems to be doing more and more telephone interviews these days.

Good luck, Richard

You can open a new bank account before or after going to court. I opened my bank account after I went to court as that meant there was no chance of it being frozen.

Am just waiting for bank to open to withdraw money. Set up a co op one last nigh. Hardly had any sleep and feel sick :-(

Hi paul

it must be done before the court because after you have been declared BR your bank account belongs to the OR until they decide to release,

regards Richard
