Hi

As far as I can recall, the Santander accounts (previously Abbey and Alliance & Leicester) are not BR friendly - unless you are discharged already.

I highly recomend the Co-op as has been already mentioned by others.

Good luck, Richard

Provided you have no other debt with Natwest such as a credit card or loan you will be able to retain and use your account.

When completing the forms only list bank accounts where you actually owe money, do not list the Natwest step account on the forms. When you have your telephone appointment with the OR you can inform his at that stage that you have a bank account with...and provide the OR with the relevant account number and sort code.
I always advise this to make sure no one gets their account frozen by accident, although the OR will 'unfreeze' any bank account which is to be continued with, it can take up to 5 working days without access to your funds

Hope this helps

Hi Malanie We currently have a Allience & Licester account which is part of Santander If we decide on BR can we keep this account or should we change to a Co-Op account as we owe money to Abbey in our IVA which is part of Santander!

Cheers

If you have debts with the bank then the account will definitely be closed. I would recommend opening a Co-op account as you know that the account will be allowed to remain open.

Like the others I don't have a local Co-op branch so I use the Post Office and I can't fault the service.

I have no probs with the co-op either , and as others if i need to pay in i use the post office as have no branch near me. Use the internet banking for everything else.

Just to say I don't have a Co-op branch anywhere near me either, I simply opened the account over the phone - I can make cash or cheque payments into the account at my local post office and do everything else on internet banking - great account, very happy with it

In fact I opened my new account a couple of weeks before I went BR.#
