Posted - 03 March 2010 : 16:14:27 I attended the seminar at CAB today , they seemed pretty impressed with the experience etc that i have to offer. They gave me another form to fill in which I will return tomorrow. They said i will get a letter next week with the date of a selection interview.

Sounds very good - I feel sure that any CAB would be pleased to get volunteers of your calibre.
Good luck and let us know when you hear, Richard xx

Posted - 03 March 2010 : 20:10:15 Good luck with that Lyndsey, I'm sure you'll be great.
I would love to do something like that, but it's not possible at the moment - maybe one day!

Posted - 03 March 2010 : 19:59:48 Thanks gettingoutofdeebt i have not as yet discussed any info re BR with them , as today was a group didnt really want to give away any private info , the next stage is 1 2 1 interviews though so ould be a better situation. They seem very keen on DRO rather than BR from some of the things they were saying today.
I applied on the ground of my housing and homelessness experience , after today realised i could also draw from my experience with drug ad alcohol services (professional involvement that is ha ha not personal) and work with the domestic violence sector (personal and professional) and other charities inncluding the childresn society etc etc.
My goodness from writing that you realise how much you do without having noticed it at the time, i even ran the needle exchange for quite a while aswel ................ and they asked today "are you used to dealing with difficult customers...." i would say so !

Posted - 03 March 2010 : 18:12:36 I'm not Housing but that sounds very promising. I would say the more people working for the CAB that have actually been through a DMP/IVA/BR process the better and especially those who have declared BR.
I've nothing against people who chose a DMP or IVA but there is still a stigma when discussing BR and people need to realise that it isn't the end of the world but a chance for a fresh financial start in life. |
