please can someone give me some advice, right myself and husband are divorced now, but we both have debt, mine is 25k. and we have a house which is in joint names.i would like to do the right thing ive been down to the local council.about this mortgage rescue .and they have put our house foward for it. i thought you would pay 20%less than the then the area rental . put they say it will be 625per month. which is more then some rentals in my area.also they say if they buy it i wont be able to pay my debt off ,and then claim a small % off housing benefit..i dont know if i am better giving the house back ,then going bankrupt. i want to do the right thing ,but they say i should go into a dmp that will take me 25yrs to pay off.

Hi Karen,

Do not throw in the towel...

You say that you have also seen a debt advisor - is that through Midland House or the CAB?

Have you got a further appointment regarding the possibility of MR?

If so, post back when you have seen them - I am of the view that MR may be of some use to you - do you have young children at school?

Do not do anything hasty as sometimes the plan takes a while to come good.

Regards, Richard

Hi,

Midland House are normally very good - what have they advised you to do?

Are you on the Housing Register with them for housing?

One thing I would say about them (and many other local authorities) is that you must be strong with their staff who may see options that are easier for them as opposed to being right for you.

Post back and I wil see what I can suggest - nice to see the sun shining in Devon isn`t it?

regards, Richard

Hi,

Why not have a conversation/email to one of the insolvency experts that post here - to the left of the page - I may be able to offer some advice if you have a "housing" issue

Come back as necssary, Richard
