I went Bankrupt back in 2007 and now we have unfortunately found ourselves in the same boat again due to buying products from several catalogues on buy now pay next year offers which we pay the minimum payment each month, as well as 3 overdrafts we are maxed on and just being able to afford to pay back the interest each month.
All of these debts are in my wifes name and probably come to around £15,000. We feel so silly getting into the same situation again and are now finding it difficult paying the debts and other essentials each month and also being able to provide for a my wife, myself and our 2 young children.
I wanted to know if it is possible for my wife to file for bankruptsy, if the worse comes to the worse, if I have already gone bankrupt in 2007.

Do you own your own house? If so, you won't be eligible for a DRO.

You can find some FAQ's here:

Buckle your seat belt Dorothy, 'cos Kansas is going bye bye.

Thankyou for your advice Richard, we will look up DRO online and look into it.
Also my Wife has not been Bankrupt before.

if your debts are under 15K you may qualify for a debt relief order

their are conditions attached to a DRO but it may help in your situation.

I dont have a link to the DRO information but if you google you should find it failing that some nice person will post the link.

I take it that after your bankruptcy you were not awarded an IPA ?,

Your wife will be able to apply for BR on her own merits and yours will not be taken into account.

I do not know both of your circumstances and it is not mine to prejudge but if you think you need help with budgetting approach the local CAB or some of the churches who have helpful self help family budgetting groups. Just would hate to see that you have had to go through the process a third time.

regards Richard
