Posted - 18 May 2010 : 20:02:05 Just received my final award for last year. My actual income was 1000 lee than the estimated income they had for me for the year. They say this does not change anything in relation to my payments as my income was below the threashold anyhow (not sure what this means)
They have on the award that i owe them £600 due to an overpayment but that it is not curretly being recovered. I rang them and they said they are not currnetly reducing my payments to recover it as they have been informed of my BR. I was discharged a few week ago but they have not been informed yet.
I asked when and how much they will recover, they told me just to "wait and see". Will they still recover it from me, will it have been included in my BR and not have to repay it ?
If they did recover it will they start reducing my payments once they see i have been discharged , do they just take a couple of pounds a week ?
Quite confused and worried

Posted - 20 May 2010 : 19:35:56 so the maximium they could take would be 10% of your tax credit each month, so if you receive 500 a month they could only take 50 pounds a month until you pay back the 600 pounds.

I tried to argue it was paid by their error and therefore i did not have to repay it, but they were having non of it. Its from when the ave me a 4 week "run on" when my work ended , then tey decided they gave me too much. Still their fault i say.
But anyhow they have taken £22 so far but have stopped taking it since they were informed of my BR.
I imagine they will find out shortly that im no longer BR so if im going to hear from them it maybe soon.

Posted - 19 May 2010 : 13:51:48 If they do take money the max they can take would be 10% if you receive full child tax credit entitlement or 25% if you are on the reduced band.
