Hello All,
I have been a discharged bankruptee for nearly 2 years now. I have had a CashPlus Card with Credit Builder to help my credit rating, I have enrolled on the Electoral Role - and I recently applied for a Vanquis Card - but they have turned me down!!! I am writing to them to find out why (as I cant afford to pay the price it would cost to call them). Does anyone else know why this would be? Also, what other cards do people recommend? Please note i am not wanting a credit card to spend money on it flippantly just to help me try and rebuild my credit rating as one day i would like to be able to get a mortgage so I will do anything to help boost the credit rating.
please help....

If I apply for cards, then I get rejected, then it only stays on my file for a year right? And if my bankruptcy is going to be on there for another 3 years, does it make much difference? I went on the electoral role about 3 months ago - I thought that they would have updated it by now...but maybe they havent... i am sending off for my Experian Credit Expert Report again to see what they have on there...
Thanks

When you say you've gone on the electoral role, when was this? I know it takes a few months from filling out the forms to appearing on it.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 30th June 2010 - it's over at last!

hi 369

yes speaking to someone would be preferable, you do not want to leave big footprints across your credit file

Thank you for your reply Richard...Yes i have looked at Skippy's blog - I have done everything that I can possibly think of - updating my credit file, going on the electoral role, CashPlus Credit Builder Card, and then i thought that I should try and apply for something to see whether my hard work had paid off! They didnt outright refuse me - they took 3 weeks to make a decision.... So do you think I should phone up rather than apply on line then - and that way I coudl ask whether it was likely that I would get one, rather than applying and it staying on my record for a year?
Thanks

Hi 369

I take it that you have already looked at skippys blog ?

I dont know what is happening with vanquis, they must be reviewing processes as i have heard a couple of people have been refused, do not apply for one on line as BR is automatic refusal.

good luck Richard
