Help appreciated, I have rfecently started a new job as a BDM whereby I have to use my own car. My new employers are going to pay me 40p per mile on top of my salary.

My concern is that when I go Bankrupt the OR will try and make me pay some of the Mileage allowance towards my debt?

Is this posible?

Also to add to the complications I have quite an old car but my Girlfriend has a newer one which I will probably use her car for some long journeys, will the OR ask for proof of mileage via an MOT for example?

Compliacted I know so any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Paul

They will take it as income, but also there will be all the associated expenses with the miles that you do

Hi Paulhaz

As the amount you get in expenses for mileage is designed to cover the business costs of using your own car (petrol, insurance, wear & tear, servicing etc), and will vary every month, it should not be taken into account as income, but it may be taken into account to some extent by reducing your allowable motor expenses.

Not sure why the OR would want to see proof of mileage - if it's your girlfriend's car it's nothing to do with the OR

Good luck
