Posted - 20 July 2010 : 14:43:41 Hi went bankrupt today. When the OR contacts me for the first time will they make me pay anything. I am out of work at the moment and not on any kind of benefits. Also how long do you think it will take before i get discharged.

Posted - 20 July 2010 : 15:24:56 The official receiver will ask to see recent bank statements and could ask you to provide them with the last 12 months worth. However if you have no income what so ever then you will not get an income payment agreement. However he may ask why you are not claiming benefits, and will want to know how you are supporting yourself.
For your information since the budget the insolvency service has tightened its belt and has sharpened up on its terms and regs. But as long as you co-operate you will be fine.

Discharge shouldnt be more than a year but can at the OR's discretion be sooner
