Hi, could you help with a question about SOA, please.
I am currently sharing a room with my partner at her mothers house, she has lived there for the last 8 years with her daughter. Her mum is in a local authority house and is an OAP and on benefits. As I say I moved here for work (which subsequently collapsed, so now am claiming Job Seekers Allowance). When I claimed for JSA they said they had to treat me and my partner as a couple as I was living with her albeit in her mums home. All i contribute to the house is my food and cleaning expenses. On the SOA under the income and expenditure what do I put who else contributes to the household....as my partners mum obviously does not want to be involved in any of this?.
Also under the part about use of car, my insurance on my car has expired, but i am named driver on my partners car...do i put this on the form....I really dont want her car or her money to be involved with this, these are my debts the vast majority of which were incurred before i even met her, and they are certainly nothing to do with her mum.
Any help will be much appreciated

Hi David

Family and Friends are always concerned when you say teh Bankruptcy words,

Older generations will refer back to the poor house (debtors prison) and becoming social outcasts, things have drastically changed. Bankruptcy in certain circumstances is the best and correct option

questions are thrown at you which you do have not always thought about or know the answer to which increases your fears.

Before you cancel the BR appointment, make contact with one of the experts, if appropriate they may help you plan the other house and help organise the rental property.

I used Paul and his team @ Reviva they were ab fab, i would encourage a call

regards Richard

Thanks for the info....I really dont know what to do now, as my partners mum is 75 and she really gets frightened by all this, she will panic. I dont know whether to cancel my BR appointment, voluntary repossess my house which i dont live in, find somewhere forme and my partner to rent and then do the BR. This way it would only affect me and my partner....what does anyone think

You will need to put down the details of any cars you have access to. You can tell the OR that the car is owned by your partner and the OR won't investigate the car any further.

You could put down the amount you contribute to food, etc. as well as the amount your partner contributes. When you have the interview with the OR you can mention that you pay this money to your partner's mother and she then uses it to pay bills, buy food, etc.
