I was considering the IVA route earlier this year, but it we may end up going down the BR route. Because of this, we opened a Standard Co-op Current Account (not a Current Account Plus), which we understand is acceptable to use whilst an IVA is in operation. We opted for no overdraft facility, but we do have a Visa Debit Card issued with it , which works for Internet and PayPal as well as in the shops.

The comments on this forum often talk about a CashMinder account, which I gather is a different type of account and has no cheque book. Does anyone know if we can still operate the Standard Current Account if we go BR? If not I presume we need to apply for a Cashminder account asap and get all our income and DDs moved across…. We don’t want to rock the boat and check all this with the Co-op if there is no need to do so.

I’m not overly worried about losing the cheque book, but if we move to the Cashminder account would hope that the Debit card is a Visa and works with Internet payments, PayPal and at shops?

What a pain - I thought this was probably the case

Do you know the places they don't work? What about the major supermarkets, and PayPal/Internet (will PayPal allow you to register it as a bone fide Visa Debit card?)
