Hello

I am due to hand in my forms at court next week.

By coincedence my mobile phone contract is due to expire in two weeks time. Am I allowed to renew this contract or not? Its only a basic £20.00 a month contract and doesnt include a fancy phone.

I don't have any debts with Orange and have always paid my direct debit on time.

Obviously it will be a couple of months into my phone contract by the time the OR contacts me.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance

From my experience it seems better that if you are no in debt with the mobile phone company you don;y phone them and let them know.

O2 and Orange usually cancel your contract before you have finished the call!

I would suggest renewing before you go to court, but obviously remember that your total allowance for telephone useage should not exceed £58 ish on the forms.

If you were to do it afterwards then they are unlikely to do a credit check for an existing customer but you must remember that you CANNOT take out credit of £500 or more without informing the creditor that you are Br.

Although the account is for £20 pm you could obviously overspend and if it is a 24 month comntract you are already near the £500 .

I didn't list Vodafone as a creditor as I didn't owe them any money. The OR didn't ask whether I had a contract and I just carried on paying as normal.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 - it's over at last!

Will the OR contact Orange to inform them once I am declared bankrupt or is that my responsibility?

There is no problem renewing the contract and it would probably be better to do this before you declare BR rather than afterwards. Some companies won't allow you to renew contracts once you are BR even if you have paid them on time for several years.
