Hi again,

I'm sorry to ask yet another question....

I was wondering, and this might sound awful and really morbid, but am I allowed to save for funeral flowers in my SOA? My grandparents are both in their 90s and really frail and my dad has about a year left as he has motor neurone disease. I would HATE it if I wasn't able to do something for the funeral.

As I said, sorry to ask a morbid question.

I created my elderly mother a gift for Mother's Day. It was a pot filled with compost and planted with carrot seeds. She watered it and she eventually saw the seeds germinate and grow into some prime carrots. What I'm saying is, simple things that are virtually free are appreciated more when some thought has clearly gone into it. Get some seeds and grow flowers. Ask around. Loads of people have too many seeds and baby plants that you can take off their hands :)

It's just so depressing, seeing him get so old and frail.
Thank you Tracey

My dad didn't know a flower from a weed (like father like daughter!) so I can imagine him looking down and thinking 'what on earth did she buy those for'.

I'm so sorry about your dad - mine was ill for 20 years and I can still remember how awful it is x

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

I guess dad isn't that keen on flowers anyway!

I'm sorry you won't have an allowance for this Essie, but I can understand why. If you know you are going to need flowers can you put a small amount away each month?

Funeral flowers don't have to be expensive or showy - it's the thought and meaning behind them that counts x

Jan is right, it's very unlikely you will be able to claim for that expense.

I can't see you being given an allowance for this, you would probably be expected to save for them from your other allowances.

I could be wrong though so hopefully one of the experts can advise.

Follow through
Make your dreams come true
Don't give up the fight
You will be alright
'Cause there's no one like you in the universe
