Hi guys,

I have been in my current role for six months, prior to that I was redundant for 5 months.

My employer (a large international household name) was recently taken over by another large company. This has resulted in us needing to either Reading or London (exact location has not yet been confirmed) or alternatively, I will be made redundant again. If I go to London, the cost of me getting to work will increase by 2k per year, and if I drive to Reading it will be an increase of £1,200 per year.

The company will not give me anything towards the extra cost to get to work.

If I need to move to either London or Reading (the choice is not mine), will the OR allow this? or deem it too expensive?

It is a great company and will look really good on my CV.

It is either this or become redundant and look for another job, which looking at the current job market, will involve at least a 4k salary drop.

Many thanks for your help,

E

Hi Essie.
We went BR Nov' '10 & have still heard nothing re an IPA & are just lying low.
Re the ED. I haven't heard of anyone getting ED since the new rules came in toward the end of last year.
Have any of the Experts any opinions on this?

Debtinfo or Bigal will be able to answer that for you.

I know it's been mentioned that they are going to stop ED.

Hi Viki,

Thank you for your reply.

I dont yet have an ipa. I am still waiting to hear if I have one or not. (I went br at end of march 2011). The or said she would write to me about the ipa but I haven't heard anything yet. I would struggle to pay for one before but this extra cost will def rule it out.

How do u become eligible for ED? And when is this usually granted?

Many thanks

Hi Charlotte,

Are you currently paying an IPA?

The OR will allow your new expenses as it's needed for work purposes, you will need to inform them of all of your changes.

Good luck with the move.
