Posted - 24 February 2012 : 08:34:06 I had a joint mortgage in 1991. The house was reposessed by Halifax and sold with negative equity. The debt was then handed over to Henderson Booth. I accidental cancelled the direct debit and received a letter from Henderson Booth in their disappointment that I had done so. Am I still liable to keep up the payments. I would like to about the 12 year rule.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question regarding the 12 year rule, perhaps someone else on the forum might know.
When did you cancel your direct debit? Was it more than 12 years ago? Have you heard nothing from them for 12 years? Do you agree that you owe this money or dispute it?
