Posted - 28 February 2012 : 23:05:27 I have a 3 year old gaming laptop that at the time was worth about £2000 bt that was 3 years ago an now has bits broken on it i also have a 50inch plasma tv worth bout £1500 that is over a year old now would these two items be taken if went in to bankruptcy i also have a 2 year old iphone 4 on contract These are really the only expensive things i have

Posted - 29 February 2012 : 14:58:56 Do you owe the mobile phone company any money? If so they would be a creditor and it's unlikely that you would be able to keep your contract.
Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
Last IPA payment made on 28th June 2010 and I'm now looking forward to getting married in September 2012 - I'm proof that you can go BR and come out the other side.

If you are planning to declaer yourself bankrupt, you do not have to worry about an old laptop or even a TV which when purchased was worth £1500. These things will not be of interest to the official receiver and you will be allowed to keep them. You will also be able to keep your mobile phone and maintain the contractual payments as long as these are reasonable in the context of your living expenses allowances.
