Hi, Can someone please help me. I was made redundant and have been seeking suitable employment, I have recently been offered a position but they want to do a background check and a criminal check on me...I am worried about the background check my bankrupancy will show on my credit report will that stop them from offering me employment? and if they do retract the offer will they notify the agency why ...that could mean future problems of employment. |

I'll have to take a chance...I need to know for any future employment...if they retract the offer then there's not a lot I can do...but really they shouldn't have offered me the job without the checks first..I am more worried what they would say to the agency as the reason for retracting the offer...that may mean they won't look for me...so people that go bankrupt are bad people and unreliable!! |

The criminal record check will be fine but not sure about the other one.
Could you make an anonymous call to HR there and ask what their stance is on people who have been bankrupt?

Hi Jan, The forms I have to complete are standard verification record and a criminal conviction declaration. there is a section on the first form about relevant information eg. financial difficulties..so I think that form will include a credit check |

Hi,
If it is a CRB check then they will only be looking at a criminal record - your BR won't show up on that.
Have they said there is a credit check as well?
