Dean has received a letter from a company called Philips Specialist Bailiffs and Debt Recovery Agents saying they have issued a warrant for his arrest on behalf of Lincolnshire Magistrates Court. This does not appear to be a normal Court document, there is no Court stamp on it and he wants to know how he should proceed. It says he will be arrested but lists methods of making payment to avoid arrest. He wants to know if this is a legitimate letter.

Sorry, I hadn't read the bit about court.

Try not to worry. Go along to court and explain everything and I'm sure you'll be able go.come to an arrangement with them. In the meantime, pop down to the CAB and see if they can advise.

Good luck for Friday and let us know how you get on.

Unfortunately we have no idea of the debt.

I checked out the site and it is a legitimate site and they can get arrest warrants but it doesn't say what for. I wouldn't have thought it was for a civil debt if they have an arrest warrant.

I just assumed it was a civil debt - is it a non payment of a fine?
Niobe Posted - 11 March 2012 : 09:53:36
Fines officers and Civil Enforcement Officers can arrest you. The police don't need to be involved.

Depends on the debt.

You won't be arrested though - only the police can do that.

I've just Googled the company and they do appear to be legit. What is the debt for?
