Hi all,
I am currently BR. Am I allowed to apply for a season ticket loan through work? It is for about 3k.

Hi Essie,
I was in a similar position to you when I went bankrupt as I also have a season ticket loan with my work, in which I pay £400 per month (£4800 per annum) compared to substantially higher costs if paid weekly or monthly. I did not inform work when I went bankrupt as there was no need and I'm sure I did mention this loan to the OR when I first spoke to them directly after my bankruptcy hearing and there was no problem. I'm sure they would prefer you to have a work related travel loan rather than having to pay even higher costs for travel to work if they put a block on you from using this loan service at work.
I wouldn't worry about it to be honest.

I still don't know if they will extend my BR - I might have to ask permission after all :(
It's crazy because work pay for my travel each month in advance but I want an annual ticket as it is much cheaper than paying weekly / monthly and it has greater benefits.
So work will lend me the money to pay for the yearly ticket (with the season ticket loan), then each month they pay me what a monthly ticket should cost and then they will deduct the season ticket loan repayment. it seems crazy they are paying back their own loan rather than just pay it in one go for me like I want!

Hi Essie,
If you want to take a loan over £500, then you need to contact the official receiver for permission, however, I noticed that you went BR last March, which means that you will be discharged this month, in which case, after discharge, you don't need to ask the OR.
