Hi Anna

a lot of estate agencies will have a preconcieved idea about bankruptcy and are not very supportive.

it is always best to secure things like the rental of a property before going to court.

My local council have a list of estate agents that are supportive of people who have faced financial challenges.. in my experience the small indi estate agents are the best

a larger deposit or guarantor may help,

Good Luck Richard,

I agree with Viki - move now.

I wasn't aware that the landlord would be informed.

If you are going to be using rental agencies, then it will probably be easier to move first before the bankruptcy, as once bankruptcy is on your credit file, it may be a bit harder.

I've never known of an eviction due to bankruptcy. You could always use a private landlord and tell them about the bankruptcy first.

Would this happen if we had only just moved into a property? basically we need to go bankrupt but it is a necessity that we move and relocate to another place to get help and support from our family - trying to weigh up the option of whether to go bankrupt first or to move first then go bankrupt however i do not want to have to be kicked out or have to move again when we have just moved as we have 4 children with anxiety disorders and mental health issues i just want to do the best for my children and need a bit of guidence to which way to go x

Hi Anna,

Usually they will write to them to inform them of the bankruptcy and confirm that there is no rental debt.
