I have a public house. I owe thw VAT and the Inland revenue £20,000 each. I have received notice that they are going to file for bankruptcy. I jointly own a property which i have recently tried to sell to pay off my debt but no lenders will give me a mortgage. I dont understand what will happen next. will i have a chance to plead to the court.

Hi
I assume you mean, re the jointly owned property, that you are trying to sell BECAUSE you cannot remortgage.

How much equity is in the jointly owned property?

Hi Calli.c and welcome to the forum.

In order to give any useful advice, a bit more backgroungd information is needed. For example, what is the house worth and what is secured against it?
