Posted - 24 September 2008 : 14:56:59 hi again i wonder if i could have some advice.
i am due to get paid on friday into joint account and will take the money out and put into a new sole basic current account which i have opened with the local credit union as i am now in a rented property and have to pay ctax gas elec etc for this property. as this is a new account with no overdraft facility etc when i go br on 2nd oct will the or freeze the account and will the credit union let me keep it. otherwise i will have to open yet another account.
also i pay a monthly health plan of £18 per month which pays out half sum towards dental and optician costs, physio, hospital stays etc . i have rheumatoid arthritis and a sight problem so i do need new glasses every 2 years do you think the or will allow this or shall i just put on the soa dental costs £18 or will this be considered 2 high.
finally what do i put for the value of my car, cos there are so many guideline prices and i understand the or works on an auction value. also if someone wanted to by the car if i am not allowed to keep it would the or let someone buy it at an agreed price with the or or does it have to go to auction. if i need a car to get to work and with the disability of rheumatoid arthritis (i receive lower component DLA) would the or allow me some money back from the sale of the vehicle to purchase another i believe its around £2500 is that correct.
also DLA £70, i understand i have to list this as income although as far as i have been told before it is not counted. however i do use it to pay someone to come in and do cleaning and food preperation for me. do i have to list this as expenditure or just tell the or what the £70 is used for
thanks again for any advice

Posted - 24 September 2008 : 15:30:57 Hi Soscared,
The decision to freeze the account will be at the credit union's discretion. I would suggest making them aware of your situation ahead of time and asking that they don't freeze the account.
There is room in the SOA for pescriptions etc, so utilise that for the £18 a month payment.
I would suggest looking at autotrader.co.uk to find a car (same age, mileage and condition) to get an idea of what yours is worth. Let the OR know you need it for work, and as long as it's worth less than £2500-3000, you should be able to keep it.
List the DLA and what it's used for. Full disclosure with the OR is always a good idea.
Finally, remember, an IPSA/IPO will only be requested for DI exceeding £100 per month, so there is room for contingencies.
