Hello - can anyone answer a question please? We are going to Court on Tuesday and I drew all my salary out of the bank today. I had assumed that I could pay the next months rent on the new place with this money. We're moving in on 1st November and have already paid November so this would be Decembers rent. If I have this money in cash is the OR likely to take it off me or will they be OK with paying the rent with it. I'm panicking now. Should I try and pay the rent by bank transfer on Monday? Help!

Hi Jude,

It all depends on how much you've withdrawn. If it's several thousand, the OR will want it. However, if it's only a few hundred quid, the OR knows you'll need this to live on and won't be concerned.

Hi
to withdraw the funds for your monthly expenses rather than see them caught in a frozen account once BR is fine.

Be careful with the advance rental idea, the OR may well decide to check and they are not usually keen on overpayment of rental in advance. Another point being if you pay rental in advance you are effectively directing a considerable sum towards what is now disposable income as the rent is already paid. Greatly increasing your chances of an IPA or much higher payments if you have one already.

Hey Jude (what a good song)

If they ask where the money went, you could always say that the landlord demanded some extra months rent up front.
Just an idea...
