Hi there

I was made bankrupt on 1st Sept and had my official OR interview 2 weeks later - she declared me an undischarged bankrupt for the next 12 months. Strangely, having checked today, my previous bank account with overdraft/loan which was submitted as part of the BR is still active and all of the outstanding amounts are still there? Is this normal? How come the account hasn't been shut down? Your advice would be gratefully received!

Hi Zamfir

These banks are a league and law of their own. I dont know how they work the accounts. My old A&L account only closed when i told them 6 weeks in as for my Natwest account they closed it.

Never mind, i have my coop one thats good enough for me.

Hi there,

I've been BR 8-9 weeks now, and all my accounts I took into bankruptcy are still active with negative balances showing.

Hi there my accounts were gradually shut down some 6 weeks after BR even though i had to be the one to tell the banks.

Some accounts unless they have an OD on them making it a debt mat be allowed to stay open. If u want the account to stay open you could check with the OR or the bank, but at the end of the day its down to the bank and not the OR.
