Posted - 12 November 2008 : 10:17:54 Hi
Went bankrupt on 20th October. I am self employed and filled in my tax return for April 6th 2007 to April 5th 2008 and sent it off. I have been told that any tax that I owe before my bankrupcty date will be included in my bankruptcy. Just want to confirm that this is correct. Obviously I could not present the figure of tax owed to the official receiver up to these dates or up to October 20th 2008, because I have not had the tax bill come through yet, although the OR as a copy of my accounts for this period. What shall I do with the tax bill that comes through for the previous tax year. What about when I fill in my Tax return for 2008/2009 when considering Tax owed up to October 20th 2008 prior to my bankruptcy.
I am a bit unsure about all this and what to do. I do not want to end up owing tax prior to my bankruptcy and end up in debt again.
I know I have asked a similar question before but I just want some clarification on this, and what I have to do.
