Hello,

If you are discharged from bankruptcy after 1 year, but still have a BRO/BRU against you for several years, can you still enter into a hire agreement with say, VirginMedia for tv/broadband connection, or is this not permissible?

Thanks

Keith

Hi

if you have been discharged but still have a BRU there is no problem with applying.
In fact you can apply before discharge if you wish but you must disclose to the provider that you are a bankrupt. Remember the restriction of bankruptcy does not state that you cannot have credit, nor does it state that you can only have credit up to £500. The rule is that if you apply for credit of more than £500 you must disclose your bankrupt status.

Obviously it is then the providers decision.

If a contract was for 12 months at £50 per month then technically you are applying for £600 of credit and therefore must disclose.
