Hullo,
I have debts of £51 000 in the uk. I now reside in Cyprus and am unemployed. My son is supporting me untill I can get another job. I am 58 years old. I also have no cash. How can I go bankrupt? My debts are virtually killing me and my sanity.

Hi

Paul is correct, the cost to declare bankruptcy in the High Court is £507 and pretty much £495 everywhere else.

If you are in the Greek side then you will need to petition where you have had your main interest in the last 6 months - i.e. in Cyprus.

If you are in the Turkish side then you can petition in the High Court in London.

2 options here:-

1. fly back and petition in person which will cost £507.

2. have someone else do it for you and present your petition under a Lasting Power of Attorney.

costs are £507 for Court, plus £150 to file the LPA plus whatever fee you would be charged for filling in documentatiopn and representing you at the high court.

Good luck rod.

Paul, has it gone up to £507 now? It was £495 a little while ago.
