Hi there I wonder if you could answer a question for me? I have no choice but to go bankrupt due to spiraling debt but I live with my parents. Will me going bankrupt affect my parents or put a black mark against their property??

The credit reference agencies are supposed, these days, only to provide details by NAME and not by address. Therefore, anyone searching your name at your parents address should only see your details and anyone searching your parents should not see your details. As you probably know there will be a credit reference of your bankruptcy for 6 years. N.B. If your parents insert a disassociation note into their credit files (both of them would need to do it) disassociating them from you it might actually just alert someone searching their files that you might have bad credit where they would not have been alerted if there was no disassociation on your parents' file. I would advise that they only go down the route of inserting a disassociation if they are refused credit or something in the future.

I had debts at my mum's and partner's addresses and neither of them were affected by my BR.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

Hi Marc and welcome

No BR wont affect your parents. You can if they or you are worried get you disasociated from you via the credit report agencies and then there would be no link, but technically NO it wont affect them.
