hi all i know that maybe this should be the last of my worries but i cant help worrying over christmas presents for my 3 kids, and parents,( mine and hubbys ) we stopped all our direct debits and payments last monday, with the intention of going BR within the next couple of months, and are saving any monies to put towards going into rented, so it leaves no hard cash left as i still need all the cash to make to move to our new home and pay for everyday living expenses, now i still have available balances on several credit cards and a few people have suggested that we use them to do the christmas pressie's, but that just seems very wrong to me, would the OR accept that we needed to buy christmas pressies when we clearly had no intention of paying the money back ???

so for the essay !!!

Hi Jo,

We are in the same boat and have decided to go back to the reason for Christmas in the first place! I am making homemade goodies for friends, nothing but love to parents who totally understand and luckily my boys are old enough to understand so will give them a little bit of money to spend in the Jan sales. For the first time i am looking forward to a non credit Christmas. We will have enough to eat and plenty of good company and thats all that counts.

Try to enjoy yours, as long as your all together thats the only thing that matters.

Can't you explain the situation to your parents & agree no presents this year?

ALSO,your children are old enough to be told that money is very tight for this year.

Sounds like a good time to go back to the original meaning of Christmas, enjoy your time together as a family, carol services etc etc.

At some point if you are going BR then the credit will stop & the family will have to live within their means so it might be as well to start this from now.
