Hello everyone,

Not been on here as much due to being extremely busy at work. I come on and read up whenever I get a chance though!

We have received the letter from the OR advising that we can buy the (neg equity) BI in our home but that they need a written value of our house from an "independent valuer or agent". I have read some horror stories of what companies want to charge on here so can anyone advise me of the best people to contact that isn't going to cost me hundreds of pounds - after all, if I had hundreds of spare pounds I wouldn't be in this position!

Can we use an Estate Agent valuation. We did have one come round at the start of the BR process but he did not put anything in writing.

Hi

I would reply to the OR explaining that you are unable to afford the cost of a surveyor's valuation and ask if an estate agent's appraisal would be sufficient.

Obviously the OR would prefer you to brunt the cost of evidencing the property value but if all else fails they will likely arrange for a drive by valuation at their own expense and look into recent sale prices in your area via the internet.
