Hi,
We went bankrupt individualy on the 6th Oct 2008.
Best thing we ever did for the record.

We filled in the forms to allow the OR to contact the tax office and declare NT Codes for us both about 3 weeks ago.

My partners company has played ball and we received a letter from the OR about two weeks ago stating Moonbeavers would be in touch about receiving the tax.

Now, my partner gets paid tomorrow and we have not heard anything from Moonbeavers about how we pay them?

Do you reckon we should sit and wait or get in touch with Moonbeavers?

If anyone else has dealt with Moonbeavers how long did it take for them to get in touch?

thanks
Matt

Hi SN

I would def put the money to one side as you never know when they may ask for it.

If your code has changed then that would be the best way to go, if it still has not then you dont have to worry about the money until it finally changes.

Take care

Jo

Forgot to say, maybe my tax code changing from 549L to 609L possibly delayed the switching to NT?

I went BR beginning of August, signed the NT letter 3 weeks later, but have still not been switched to NT code.

HMRC wrote a letter to me about a month ago, advising that I'm going to be switched to NT soon. I get paid Friday, so we'll wait and see :)

thanks all, obviously we are going to have to put the money aside, (right before xmas) until Moonbeavers get in touch....

Hi SN

I had moonbeavers and they wrote to us beg of oct to say they would be collecting the money and they asked that we send wage slips to them so that they knew when the code had started.

We did this and sent of last months slip and they wrote back about 31st Oct & the SO has been set up now, for us all in all about 2 1/2 months from signing with the OR to the code changing and then Moonbeever sending us details of where to send.

We now have a SO for the 28th of each month going to them.

I would say they contacted us about a month after signing the IPA then a bit extra to get it all rolling.

I didn't get an NT code, but I have a 'normal' IPA. I started paying later than agreed in the IPA paperwork as Clarke Willmott (who collect my payments) didn't get in contact in time.

If your partner has an NT code this month I would put the money aside and wait for Moon Beever to contact you.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

We have already signed the IPA forms and had the letter from the OR stating they are now legally enforcable. My partners company has also sent a letter to her stating she is on an NT tax code.

It also states in the letter that Moonbeavers will be in touch and that they are acting on behalf of the OR.

My understanding is the OR contacts the tax office and the tax office contacts the employer to issue the NT code. It is only after that has occured that your tax code getts set to NIL and you pay the difference to the OR. Until that happens you cant pay. It may be worth a contact to the tax office to see if your request has been received :-)
