i am in debt of approx 15,000. These debts are in my sole name. My wife of 18 years owned her own home when i married her. It stayed in her name when we moved for the first time in 2004 to look after her mother. This larger house was jointly owned by my wife and her mother. When her mother died shortly afterwards my wife inherrited her mothers share of the house and owned it in her sole name. In 2006 we moved to our present home, again owned soley by my wife. Can i go bankrupt without it endangering my wifes - and our familys home. My wife has no mortgage and owns the house outright.

Hi

if your wife has owned each of the properties that you have jointly occupied, outright then the property is safe.

If any of the properties were, at the time of joint occupancy, mortgaged, it would need to be proven that you have never at any stage contributed to a deposit, mortgage payment or utility bill.

There are a number of ways this can be done.
