I don't know if this is any use to anyone, but when I was looking at the Northern Rock website this morning I noticed that their current account is available to anyone over the age of 14 living in the UK.

I had a quick scan through the Ts and Cs, but I couldn't find anything about bankruptcy.

I don't know if they would accept someone who is BR, but I thought it might be worth a try if you couldn't get anything else!

I may be wrong but I think it will turn out the account is not for baknrupts and probably not for recently discharged bankrupts either.

I had problems opening a savings account even when I was discharged, but when I tried NR it wasn't a problem.

18 IPA payments to go!

Hi

I guess they, and some other banks should perhaps take note, may well be of the view that a bankrupt, discharged or otherwise, should not have the door to an account automatically closed.

After all, without the taxes we all pay they would now be in exactly the same boat.

Intuition tells me, however, that they may yet still have the view that a bankrupt is a no no.
It certainly would be interesting to know what their stance actually is.
