Hi guys
we go br on 17th Feb.
Today we just received a letter from our accountant to say we have today received £1500 each in our current account as a tax rebate. I have just checked the account and wondered what will happen to the money? will we be allowed to keep it or will we have to give it to the OR?

Hi
each of you is entitled to a car provided you can demonstrate it is required. If you are confident this will be the case I would get them before BR so that 2 x vehicle costs can be claimed on expenditure and thus reducing portential IPA costs.
Keep the HP vehicle on the drive until repossessed, reclaim the tax (SORN) and transfer the insurance to your replacement vehicle.

I would say a smallish amount might be ok when thinking of a replacement vehicle as you need one for work.
Maybe Paul or John will be on later and can clarify as i dont want to give misleading info.

hey thing is were self employed, we have been saving for the fees for last month by not paying invoices etc. So we have all the money now for the court etc.
Just thinking, I will need a new car as this on is on HP and will need to go back and I will need a car for work so could I withdrawn the money and mention that to the OR.
Also my wife who currently doenst work wants to set up her own mobile therapist business and will obviously need a car? would we just get away wih being allowed to purchase on car or would we be allowed one each? |

Hi Help
In a way thats good but for now its not.
Can you use some for fees and keep the rest for general living maybe, or just a little and leave some for the OR if asked.
Are you working as you could use some of it for everyday expenses.
