Hi,

I hope someone will be able to help me. I am going bankrupt and my partner shortly afterwards (need to get his money together, but as I have more debt I am going first).

What will happen to my utilities when I go BR? They are in my sole name and I have debt on both Gas & Electric. I am currently paying approx £120 for Gas every month as they are collecting a debt repayment via the card meter every wednesday of £15 irrespective of how much credit I have. I know that I can include this debt on my forms, but how soon can I get them to stop taking their automatic payments? I go BR next Wednesday 28th, and they take their payments on a Wednesday.

Also, in the I&E part of the forms, how do I complete this? I have just started a new part-time job after having 2 babies, and have only had 1 pay date since I started. Do I just put my wages as contributing a little to everything? Or use my £650 wages to pay for entire items, such as rent and utilites and insurances?

I am sorry if these are silly questions, but cant seem to work this out myself! Any help gratefully received!
Thanks, Danni

Hi

yes the utilities can be included in your bankruptcy but they don't have to be as they are priority debts.

If you do, and being on a meter, you may be cut off and have to go through the process of acquiring an alternative supplier, which could mean the current meter having to be changed although I'm not absolutely sure on that.

In section 7 you should enter the expenditure amounts for the household, not a proportion which may represent that which you feel responsible for.

Then in section 6 you enter your net income, your benefits and your partner's net income in "other contributions to the household".

When your partner fills in the forms the expenditure and benefit figures should mirror yours. Then the net income and contribution figures are, of course, reversed.
