There would certainly be less confusion if it were the same rules from one end of the country to the other.

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 19:48:54 Hi
it's true to say that an annual review of allowances should be carried out AND published then we would all know where we stand and ALL be treated equally and fairly.

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 17:14:08 Hi RHB
To be honest i could have asked for higher expenses, however only put what i actually spent and my OR's office certainly wasn't going to tell me to put it up.
Maybe i got the short straw of or's

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 17:06:45 Actually jenny that osn't so judging by other responses on here. Seems like the OR will raise levels of expenditure when working out the expenditure with you. |

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 17:04:11 That is certainly a good point crockett and i would obviously go off your own figures if they are genuinely higher and you can proove it.

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 16:33:38 Hi,
I notice the guidance that is referred to is dated 2006, surely some kind of uplift is allowed given the increase to just general costs of living over that two year period. Thinking about petrol and food alone how much have weekly bills for these gone up since 2006!! |

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 16:30:09 ok, i will go for it, spose at the end of the day we can only get knocked down :) Thanks Jenny |

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 16:24:26 I agree with John here ...if there is a higher limit that you are entiltled to claim then i would put that amount down. he way i see it if the or thinks its too high you can negotiate, however if you put the lower amounts down then there are no room for negotiations.
My thoughts only

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 15:44:49 Thanks for the advice guys, I got the guide from the following post i found on here,
If it helps anyone.
I have often mentioned that there is a Household Expenditure Spreadsheet on the Insolvency Service website;
http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/DocumentLibrary/Policy/Excel/Household%20Expenditur.xls
Also, the various notes you see on the Household Expenditure Spreadsheet, such as 'Tm 31.7.22' refer to the following page on the website, which is a bit more difficult to find;
http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/freedomofinformation/technical/TechnicalManual/Ch25-36/Chapter31/part7/part2/part_2.htm
Taken together, these two links are invaluable in assessing Income & Expenditure in bankruptcy, particularly as regards making sure you use up everything you can under allowable expenses and avoid claiming too much on disallowed expenses. |

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 10:59:07 Hi
depending on what you each do professionally you could also consider reducing your working hours. Some would, some would not morally choose to do so.
But nevertheless the option is there, you cannot be forced to work.

Posted - 24 January 2009 : 10:55:22 Hi
clothing for 2 people should be circa £60.
Assuming you are allowed to keep both vehicles then related running costs for 2 vehicles should be around £110. You've omitted servicing costs. You are also allowed AA/RAC cover so if your not already covered (for both of you) I would get it as you will effectively be paying half price for it (the % the OR would claim if you don't).
Where the guide is higher use that figure.
Prescriptions are just over £7 each. Unless £5 is your calculated average per month then £7 or £14 for the 2 of you.
You could also add Dry Cleaning - £10 and if you have a pet the allowance is £20 per month for food and insurance. Please note - you may be required to evidence the insurance aspect of this.
