Hi,

I went bankrupt on the 21st and have my telephone OR interview on 4 Feb. Jusr wondering if people can advise what they ask. The last 8/9 years have been a bit of a blur whilst all my debt problems have occurred. I went from an abusive relationship where all debts were put in my name to having to support my alcoholic/suicidal father financially to another relationship where I was supporting us both as my partner was a full time student. I always thought that at some point due to wage increases etc and my now ex-partner getting a job (some hope but didn't realise at the time!!!) that I would be able to sort out my financial situation. Last Aug/sept was the turning point really my Dad was admitted to Intensive Care and I thought this is it I've got to take control and get my life sorted (he hasn't drunk since either). I'm worried they are going to ask in depth details about what I have spent money on as it is nothing in particular just living. I don't have anything flash, haven't been on expensice holidays it is just really gone on living exepenses and robbing Peter to pay Paul. Will the OR accept this, I am also worried that I'm going to get a BRU!

Sorry to have gone on but have tried to describe my situation as best as I can. The judge gave me a really hard time so am worried the OR will as well. Basically the judge gave me the impression in her questioning that she thought I was taking the easy option, which I thought was a bit unkind given that I had put full details of how absolutely awful the past 8 years of my life have been on the forms. But hey ho I never have to see her again in my life.

Hi Crockett

I had my OR phone interview last week and it was relatively painless. She asked me how long we had lived at our address. She then went through our debts. She concentrated mainly on the credit cards and the personal loan. She wanted to know when they were taken out, what they were for, how much we were paying each month and when we last used them. I was unsure of some of the dates but she said not to worry. She then asked me to send in the last 12 months statements for my credit cards and that was about it. I was lucky that my OR was very nice. Just be honest about your situation.

Hope that helps. Kind regards,

Amanda

Aaahhhh that explains it (i didnt say it before just in case), but i was also told they are harder on women - seems its very true

To be honest i really dont know about bry/o's so would not want to give wrong info - they also never seem to be consistant when they give them. I will keep my fingers crossed that you dont get one, however, it will only keep you under 'restrictions' of br, you will still be discharged automatically.

Thats great about Natwest, seems banks would be better of with us 'br' people - me thinks the banks could loose out alot if they keep being prejudiced

Thanks Jenny, do you think a BRU is likely?

On the positive side i opened a Natwest current account two months ago no overdraft, cheque book etc only a solo debit card and i spoke to my branch on Friday and they said they were happy for it to stay open as I had no dbts with them. Not counting my chickens too soon thoughas maybe someone else will close it so have a coop cashmider account to use in the meantime. So thought I'd leave D/Ds and wages with coop and transfer surplus to natwest for shopping, living expenses etc, then if in afew months is fine will switch all back to natwest.

Someone else said to me that women are harsher. Being femaale myself I find it a bit strange!

Hey there Crockett

The OR will go through your soa page by page, line by line, so you will no doubt know what will be coming next.

Just explain what you have wrote here as you only seem to have done what all of us have - 'peter and paul' situation and payings bills and expenses. If you dont know something then just say so, they cannot force answers out of you. Dont feel like you have to fill gaps of silence either, as they are merely writing down what you say, so they can write their report to your creditors.

As for the Judge, please try not to worry too much - I had a woman and was told they are much harsher on people (just our luck hey). You will never have to see her again.

Jenny
