I have been doing a bit of reading about banks that provide bankrupts with accounts and noticed that the NatWest Step Account was on the list.
As well as our joint NatWest Current Plus account which will obviously be frozen upon our bankruptcy, I have a step account, which although I never use anymore is still active. Would I be able to use this account or would I have to apply for another? If I could use it it would obviously be easier to just transfer all our direct debits from out joint account over to my step account at the same bank. |

LOL, our lass just went through the online application process for the step account.
Unfortunately page 3 of the process came back with your credit file shows a bankruptcy. To proceed please goto your local branch with your bankruptcy discharge for the application to proceed.
The laughable part to this story is that our lass already has a step account with Natwest that she had before going BR.
WE have just used the Online banking and the account seemed active so she called them, advised them that she went BR in October last year.
After 2 mins waiting on the phone, she was advised she can KEEP the account.
Right result!

I had a NatWest step account when I went bankrupt and i was able to keep it, in fact they were very nice and understanding about the whole thing and gave me a decision in a few minutes

Hi
if Natwest are not, or will not be, a creditor then call them and check. There would be no reason for you not to believe their answer provided you have no debt with them.
