Posted - 25 January 2009 : 10:51:49 Hello,
I am finalising my SOA online, and would like some advice re my expenditure figures. I have put down what I currently pay for outgoings, however I didnt know that I could allow for things such as clothing, Haircuts and prescriptions etc. So I have tried to us the figures that I found on the InsolvenyGov website and would like to know if these seem reasonable?
Rent £450 *inc £50 arrears monthly agreed with Housing Assoc Council Tax £150 Electricity £45 Gas £75 Water £28 Phone, TV & Internet £60 (Virgin) TV Licence £12 Home Insurance £18 Car Insurance £37 Car Tax £30 Car M.O.T £12 Car Maintenance £30 Petrol £100 Mobile Phone £20 Childcare £300 Groceries £450 Clothing £80 Hairdressing £30 Holidays £60 Birthdays/Christmas £40 Emergency Fund £50
Total £2078 My Wage £650 per month Child Benefit £130 Child Tax Credit £330 Partner Contribtion £1000 Surplus of £32
Also, my partner is due a wage increase from April meaning that he can contribute an extra £150, does this mean that I will then be classed as having enough surplus for an IPA? I did read somewhere that the OR did not take Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit as income, but I'm not sure if this is the case?
Any help appreciated.

Posted - 25 January 2009 : 13:54:46 Hi
yes i would say that your variable figures (housekeeping / clothes/ hairdressers/ would pretty much be on a par to Danni's.
Obviously some of them are fact and relevant to each case. Rent / council tax / utilities etc.

Do you or anyone else know if these figures change drastically for 1 adult and 4 children (2 in nappies)?
Thanks |

Posted - 25 January 2009 : 12:25:53 Hi
from the level of CB you have listed I'm guessing there are 2 adults and 2 children in the household. Please find below.
Rent £450 *inc £50 arrears monthly agreed with Housing Assoc OK Council Tax £150 OK Electricity £45 OK Gas £75 OK Water £28 OK Phone, TV & Internet £60 (Virgin) Don't list TV and internet - they are not claimable. Just enter £60 for landline phone. TV Licence £12 OK Home Insurance £18 OK Car Insurance £37 Car Tax £30 Car M.O.T £12 Car Maintenance £30 Enter the above as £109 against vehicle costs (I presume this is for 2 cars) - no need to give the details. You could add AA/RAC membership seperately if you have it. Petrol £100 As essential travel - OK Mobile Phone £20 This may not be allowed as you have claimed the max against telephone, unless the mobile is essential for your work. Childcare £300 OK but you will need evidence. Groceries £450 Up this to £500 Clothing £80 Up this to £100 Hairdressing £30 OK Holidays £60 The sum is ok but change Holiday to Domestic Break Some OR's don't like the terminology. Birthdays/Christmas £40 OK Emergency Fund £50 This will not be allowed.
Revised Total £2077 My Wage £650 per month Child Benefit £130 Child Tax Credit £330 Partner Contribtion £1000 Surplus of £33
You must list CB but it is not classed as income by the OR(CTC is but it won't matter in your case). This means that your real disposable income is not +£33 but -£97. Therefore you will avoid an IPA.
If your partner is not declaring bankruptcy then his April salary increase should not be added to the household income figure. Otherwise his increase may end up paying your IPA towards your debts. That's why the question asks for partner's contribution and not net income.
