Posted - 27 January 2009 : 08:35:57 Just had the shock of my life. I don't have a big house, and was paying £118 pm DD for gas and electricity. Today my DD came out for £185! There was no warning and a quick call has established that this is my new monthly amount until the 10% is knocked off in April (British Gas). There is no way I can afford this, friends with bigger homes are paying half of this. Luckily my Child Benefit was paid today otherwise I would have recieved a charge and C0-Op would have closed my account (my 3rd strike and YET AGAIN, no fault of my own.) Feel like crying as that was my food money for the week, now have to borrow to feed my children.
Before I search for another supplier, what are my chances of being accepted as a BR? Would it be better to wait 2-3 weeks until my ED?

Posted - 27 January 2009 : 09:36:42 Hi TD,
Sorry about the shock, I can't answer your question about whether you will be able to change suppliers before ED, but as you are on the net you could look at a company called Utility Warehouse I believe as long as you have a bank account to set up a DD I am sure it will be fine, I have just moved into a property and currently setting up a Cashminder Account so I will be able to change to this supplier, they also do phone, internet etc. I havn't gone BR yet but will be within the next couple of months. Good Luck
Karen
