Posted - 28 January 2009 : 16:05:24 Hello,
I hope someone will be able to advise me on a question I have. I am considering bankruptcy. However, for the past 18 months, my flatmate has had their wages paid into my account as they do not have their own bank account. This made sense because we share the rent and utility bills and any money left over from their pay was given back to them after all bills were halved. This bank account is solely in my name. Would the OR have a problem in my having received my flatmates wages into my own account even though this is not a 'joint account' but only in my name, if I explain the reasoning behind it with regards making the paying of rent, bills easier? I just don't want my flatmate getting into trouble or being involved in my bankruptcy through no fault of their own.
Thank you
Keith

this will not be a problem once explained but you will of course need to make alternative banking arrangements before declaring bankruptcy as the account will be frozen.
