I opened a co-op cashminder account prior to bankruptcy and set up a few direct debits. All money in this account was for essential expenditure and the OR had no interest in it, and the account was not frozen. Some OR's might might view this differently I don't know.

I use the tuxedo prepaid card. You can get your wages paid into the account and also set up DD and SO. I don't think you can set up DD with any other prepaid card at the moment.

Posted - 28 January 2009 : 19:49:19 Depends on the type of account you are moving too for example if it is a managed account, it will stay open and not frozen, if its a basic account such as coop or Barclays they will freeze it until they recieve notification that the OR has no interest in the account. If it is a prepaid card, or a prepaid card with extra services such as tuxedo, evolution, cleardebt etc these usually stay open as the money is held in a big holding account where you are given a unique identifier rather than sort code and account number.
Hope that helps

no it's a waste of time as the account will likely be frozen.
