Posted - 29 January 2009 : 18:35:10 Hi,
I think I will be declaring myself bankrupt after all and I have phoned my local county court to ask them if there is a waiting list and they have said "no", I just need to turn up. Does this mean that if I submit my petition sometime in early March, then I should be declared bankrupt on the same day? I am trying to do this before the start of the new financial year as I would rather not have to let my empoyers know of my bankruptcy. Does this make sense and am I right in thinking that the day you turn up in court with the relevant papers and payment, this is the same day you are declared bankrupt?
Confused.

Posted - 29 January 2009 : 20:11:35 Yes, you are right Keith. If your court has a walk in policy you can turn up when you're ready and you will be declared BR the same day.
One thing I would say is to check whether the court has a maximum amount of people they can see per day. The court I went to had a walk in policy, but could only see 4 people per day and it was first come first served. They also didn't have BR hearings on Fridays.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
